many happy returns

returnsday1

I knew I was going to be spending all day Monday dragging around armloads of garment bags in and out of subway cars and up and down stairs (cuz nobody's paying for my taxis 'cept me!) so I went for something nice and loose and comfortable. I ended up having to jettison the jacket pretty quick though, I was running a serious sweat factory halfway in to my first drop-off of the day (John Galliano no less! Ooh lala.)

returnsday2

I seriously wish I could just wear these pants every damn day. Knowing these things exist in my closet makes shoving myself back into a pair of skinny jeans feel like a prison sentence. Plus honestly, those things are really starting to look kinda stale and boring. Is anyone else welcoming the eventual, if only partial (still never gonna be into wide-legged anything, not for me thanks!) decline of the painted-on look?

Ah! I love them. I've been kicking myself for talking myself out of buying a pair of high waisted fine checked trousers last weekend. These however are even nicer. Tres Chic!

Yes,
I'm definitely tired of the skinny jeans trend. I really hope we move to trousers like yours here.

I can see the decline of the skinny, although I like having the option between both. I find that straight-legged pants and trousers look better with flats and sandals, while skinnies work better with booties (well, the ones I own anyway!). As long as it's high-waisted, I'm fine with that!

Oh wow, did you manage to get a job? and one that sounds very impressive no less! I'm completely with you on the whole sense of claustrophobia when wearing skinny jeans. Though as I'm still besotted with my high waisted skinny jeans I'm not quite over the look yet.

Have been searching so long for a pair of wide legged jeans a la Jane Birkin though.

But I digress, I think you should go ahead and get these cut in other fabrics/colours. They're so nice and given how much you love them it would be worth it. X

I've been into skinnys since my adolecent punk/goth days so I don't think they'll be leaving my closet any time soon. That being said I love the menswear inspired rolled up cuff pant look too. I picked a pair up from UO last month but still haven't worn them. ARG. It's such a different silhouette for me I'm still trying to figure out what to pair them with. You look great!

is it your birthday? (i think i recall reading as much a few posts down) if so, a very happy birthday to you!

i love how you effortlessly mix patterns togather. those pants are perfect on you, honestly i am in love with peg leg pants i managed to find a black pair in the Warehouse sale (uk shop) but black is such a hard colour to keep. The grey is excellent on you. And that belt! I too think ahead when I find that perfect item, to the day when it will break and I will be at a loose end trying to find a replacement for the darn thing!

Have you a job now? hoorah!

As much as I love my skinny jeans, I always want to take them right off when I get home!! I just picked up a couple of really comfy jeans from a clothing swap and am really enjoying them... just gotta figure out how to wear them properly in actual outfits! I need more comfy slacks too, the only pair I have right now has a really small waist, so it's not good for wearing out for a meal or something.

PANTS = so complicated

Pants are the wooooorst. No joke. Haha, and as I sit typing this, I'm totally wearing my skinny jeans again, of course. Honestly I don't think I'll ever totally let them go or anything, but I think I've just had a bit of a skinny jean overload, since they're pretty much the only thing I wore all winter!

And sadly no, I still have not found a proper job. The returns were from a shoot I assisted on this weekend, for which I did get paid, hallelujah! But haven't got a clue when my next gig will be. Eeek.

Oh, and it's not quite my birthday yet, still got a month to go! But thanks for the kind wishes in advance ;n )

Those pants look comfy and perfect. I think skinny jeans / pants will be around for a while yet, but I"m ready for some new pant silhouettes, have to say. Spice things up a bit!

I agree--love the skinny jeans, but really excited about new shapes. I recently got some Long & Lean jeans from Gap and for me, they are an affordable take on a 1970's/Birkin-esque flared leg. So cute w/ a striped, tucked-in tee, woven leather belt and clogs.

I don't really wear pants very often, but I'm really tempted to get a pair of trousers like these! They look amazing on you! :)

i love my skinnys, my jeagings, and leggings... i typically opt for the comfier pairs and i really think that as long as they are some what fashionable and i am still somewhat thin, i will wear them until the day i die..

don't know why but it is what makes me most comfortable usually..

The things I am bored with are overt sexuality and looking to the past for inspiration. You really know youre at the end of a cycle when absolutely nothing available in your price range is appealing enough to buy.

Love the outfit. I agree with you, skinny jeans are getting a little done-to-death. However, it's unfortunate because I've only recently found the perfect pair. Now I will spend the next 3 years searching for the perfect pair of trousers to fit my strange frame...But those look like a nice fit for you.

Wow, Anon, I could not agree more! That is exactly what I've been starting to feel these days, I just couldn't put my finger on it...
